halloween 2012

Dear Reader,
What a night we had! I cooked a dinner that everyone(including the kids) actually loved and the peanut butter pie was a hit too! This was the first year the Taggarts didn't come over :( With them 40 mins away, it makes for a long night in the middle of the week! So the brodowski's came over and my parents. The kids gobbled down the food and threw on their costumes and we were out the door! This year the neigborhood was awesome! There were kids every where. I think we got a lot of "drive in" families because we DO NOT have that many young kids in our track. It was hard to keep track of everyone, and the older boys wanted to run ahead, which seemed like a great idea until we realized none of them had a phone...so there was no way of getting a hold of them. Thankfully before all us mother's panicked too much, they came and found us...and we handed them a phone.
The air was crisp and everything felt so "right" for halloweem (expect the missing Taggarts). We made it about three blocks until i started to hear cries of "my feet hurt, this bag is getting too heavy. That was my cue! We packed it up and the kids hit the bath and were in bed by 9:00. The hubby and I snuggled in bed to watch "Halloween" from 1974. Its just the right kind of scary...but not too gorey like the new movies. The acting is horrible and I love it! But this year...this 35 year old was out like a light within 15 mins. Sigh...I guess the movie will have to wait until next year. I tried watching it the next night...but wasn't the same. Halloween HAS to be watched on Halloween!
My kids have a few more days with their candy until it starts to "mysteriously" disappear. ( candy goes into the garbage...can't handle my kids on that much sugar!) The kids and I are sad that its over...but i feel a slight twinge of excitment that christmas is around the corner!

Happy Holidays,

kristen
